Hand-Made 12 Foot Yurt - Berkshire

Description

We have decided to sell our yurt which we have used for some time as a storage space. It is hand-made and 12 feet in diameter, but relatively tall so all of the interior space is usable with good headroom. We no longer need the storage space and would now like to pass our yurt on to a good home. Last autumn we spent over £3000 replacing the canvas and repairing woodwork where necessary.

The wall woodwork is in three sections which concertina up for storage or to transport. They are made from sturdy steamed ash as are the rafters. We have had a new wheel made for the top of the roof and this is steamed oak. The double doors are pine and are lockable with a Yale lock. The door frame is mostly ash with a replacement oak section at ground level. All woodwork is protected with linseed oil.

The cream canvas has been entirely replaced with a window at the top over the wheel to give good light inside. The walls include a blue vinyl section at the bottom so that the canvas is not in contact with the ground. The ground sheet is original, but in good condition being made from green heavy duty plastic tarpaulin with a welded seam across it.
